For those that actually want to know, wet bulb temperature is the theoretical temperature at 100% humidity. I.e., at 100% humidity, the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature is one in the same. This theoretical temp is found by covering a liquid mercury thermometer with a saturated cloth and blowing the ambient air over it. The relationship between this phenomena and dry bulb (actual) temperature was then algebraically defined, so we now have a formula to calculate wet bulb from dry bulb and humidity, or vice versa.
