"Stainless" steel and aluminium can rust. Stainless is not rust proof, just rust resistant and the rate what it can resist is based on the amount of chromium and other shit the alloy has, the problem with it is that chromium fucks up your steel and makes it extremely hard to work with it. Also aluminum can't really stand the air without rusting. The grey shiny color of aluminum is its rusted form. It's very reactive with almost everything and it actually stains very easily with acids though it remains mostly grain and it doesn't rust like iron that the rust can seep into the center, aluminum rust from the outside in.
