Right now I am trying to move to computer programming, which was my childhood hobby, but I have six years of working as a writer. You should really specialize in a specific field and it will be easier to find work as well.

I have also done construction work and a lot of unwanted general labor jobs, probably the most unwanted jobs in the USA and in illegal conditions. It was better than unemployment honestly.

But yeah the best writing work I have had was from writing cold emails to publishers asking for work. Don't be afraid of rejection, you will face rejection and just have to embrace it and be persistent. Don't take it personally, and don't take it personally when people criticize your writing to help you.
