Mma prepares you for social violence (bar fights, fighting over women, beating up bullies as a teen, etc), builds confidence so your unconscious doesnt betray you through body language and holding your tongue in arguments with other high test or larger males. It conditions you through HIIT cardio and strength training and gives most benefits of exercise neurologically / health wise.
It gives you the ability to restrain or control distance with people who start fights in asocial or social decay contexts, like crackheads at gas stations, home invasions if you miss a shot and they get closer, or abrupt chimp outs, etc. Like someone else said it helps (but doesn't completely change) with how fucked you'd be if someone's already got a weapon inside 21 feet.
