It's not been a pleasant time, and I've spent a couple of decades digging myself out of the mire, and now that I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere resembling normalcy, I've accepted that I'm too old to start a family.

Even if I got insanely lucky, and met a girl younger than me who would be willing and able to have healthy children with me, I'll be an old man by the time they're entering young adulthood, and I would probably be dead before they're 30.

With that in mind, I'm left with two choices: spend the rest of my life lamenting what I'll never have, or endeavor to be the best person I can be, live the best life I can, and be a positive presence for those who are in my life. Your legacy isn't purely decided by your direct offspring.
