Not totally unreasonable. The issue is that markets are so turbulent, and wages so low that the amount people can safely invest in isn't huge. If you put in too much you'll get wiped out in the next crash (usually accompanied with a layoff). Too little, and the payoff becomes insufficient to really change your circumstances. It's easy to say things like "he should have bought crypto" but the number of people who actually traded crypto and came out ahead is very small compared to those who lost money doing so. Lots of people who invested steadily got wiped out in 08; the shocks of that are still fresh in the mind of many, and nothing has been done to make it less likely to happen again.

Luckily I'm at a small software company with no indians. The white men responsible for hiring (including myself) are extremely good at sniffing out BS. As long as you don't let them in the door, the race-based nepotism can't destroy everything.

See this kind of thing exactly shows what BS the "replaced by AI" is. An AI could actually handle the core of a task like this easily and with good accuracy, to say nothing of someone like yourself who actually understands what he's doing. Corporations would rather promote the jeet.
