Most Brazilians are barely sentient talking vegetables who can't understand ideas such as cause and effect or time and space. There's no intellectual life in Brazil. What Brazilians see on TV and the pop culture garbage they consume are overwhelmingly American-made. They see American lifestyle and cities on movies etc. and get hypnotised, thinking of America as the highest ideal of society that can exist in the world. Even in the 1800s it was already like this. A German traveller noticed Brazilians thought only two countries other than Brazil existed in the world (England and Portugal). Since he was clearly not Portuguese the locals took him for English and cursed him. Western European countries other than Portugal are seen as part of an exotic refined civilization, but nowhere as attractive as America. Asian countries, in turn, are seen as alien and often uncivilized, since Brazilians uncounsciously see themselves as Western. Since China is a dictatorship and the Brazilian media (subservient to the US) portrays it negatively Brazilians show dislike for it.
Worse even, many Brazilians see America as a friend and a responsible country in the world stage. Even though the US has conspired and sabotaged Brazil since before our separation from Portugal living under the umbrella of American hegemony is seen by many as preferable to sharing links with China, Russia, even India. Brazil is the ultimate example of how not to be a country.
