As for how it works - well, with existing MANPADS, I think they're limited to acquiring targets by LOS. There'll be a telescopic sight or the like; the sight has some "superelevation" built in, since you have to aim somewhat above the direct line of sight. I think the shooter will listen - with headphones - to the signal from the seeker until he gets a good steady growl - and then he squeezes the trigger. I'd have to brush up a bit, but at least with older designs, they used these thermal batteries; if you, for whatever reason, don't fire the missile, you have to replace the thermal battery, and they're not easy to come by.

How does this system work? Well, we don't get a good look at the launcher, but I bet you acquire the target visually; there's probably a little screen like on a camcorder. I bet the missile works the same way - there's probably some cheap digital camera in it. The necessary machine-vision algorithms (they have nothing to do with AI) are simple and will run on very insubstantial hardware. The rest of the missile is unremarkable - it's a little motor (if it's solid-propellant, it's a motor), and probably some aerodynamic control surfaces, although maybe the designers figured out some clever scheme that's simpler and cheaper than a set of fins.
