I work for r’NHS. Anecdotally flu jab uptake has dropped off because:
A - you get it enough times and eventually one will make you feel like shit for a week so you don’t do it again
B - knowledge that we have developed good immune systems over time so it’s kinda seen as not necessary - I know more people out of work who get sick with the flu than in work

The flu makes no statistical sense to get a vaccine for.
1. It's only 50% effective on average. This is because the flu vaccine is manufactured BEFORE flu season hits, where they estimate the dominant strain. They are wrong around half the time, only finding out after the dominant strain takes hold for the season. So the vaccine did nothing.
2. Around 25% of people who receive the vaccine, get "flu-like" symptoms from the vaccine. These symptoms don't last as long as an actual flu, and they last a shorter period of time than the flu, but they still make people feel like shit for a days/days.
3. Only around 15% of the population actually get the flu each flu season. So you have around a 1 in 7 chance of getting the flu, only a 1 in 2 chance of the flu vaccine actually doing anything if you are that unlucky 1 in 7 (so lets say that theres a 1 in 14 chance that you will get the flu and the vaccine will work), but a 1 in 4 chance that the flu vaccine will give you flu like symptoms anyway.
THEN you have to factor in that often the flu vaccine, even if it is the right strain, STILL doesn't always prevent you from getting the flu, but rather, it just reduces the severity, and length by an average of 1 day.
It statistically makes NO SENSE to get the vaccine unless you're really fucking old/near death and a simple flu will take you out.
