Tinfoil hat cat Posting, but I feel like all this sudden talk around immigration is being co ordinated and is being used as a pressure release valve by the establishment to avoid riots in this unusually hot, dry summer.
The total change in rhetoric and unusually worded speeches from Starmer feels very crafted and shaped for a specific audience (the sort who would riot). Yes, Reform made huge gains at the local elections, but we had about a decade of electoral discomfort and establishment parties being kicked at the ballot box, including Brexit, and it never led to a change in rhetoric like this. I genuinely think they expect civil unrest this summer (they predict water shortages if it doesn't rain), and the establishment and media is getting ahead trying to bombard the public with 'good news' about immigration. I also say this because I keep seeing the story about the Iranians planning an attack on the Israeli embassy plastered everywhere. I struggle to think of another story in recent years where they have so heavily publicised that they foiled a terrorist plot, including details about the terrorists ethnicity, and immigration status (illegal). If it did kick off, the police are woefully underequipped to deal with it. Especially as tier 1s would be kicking off as well. They would struggle to do a repeat of last year, send the riot squad out to bash the natives, then send a couple of high ranking officers to meet with 'community leaders', 'leave your weapons at the mosque' etc. The prisons are full, and I doubt they can afford a repeat of their last attempt at making space to lock up thought criminals.
We all know even if this is legitimate and not a psyops, Labour and the Tories can't be left in charge long term, because the second they think they are in the clear, they will turn the immigration taps back on. But I still struggle to believe this is a genuine response to Reform and an election that is 4 years away.
