I enjoyed the GTAV single player campaign, played it through once, doessed around the world for a little bit, and then got out before online ever became a thing. I couldn't care less about this over-elaborate waste of time and money.
My favourite games of all time are Portal, Talos Principle, and they don't make them like that anymore. I considered TP2 but it looks a little up it's own ass with elaborate story telling.

I can only play 4 with custom radio. When they took out the music in SA and VC that killed it for me. If 6 is good I will upgrade my ps4 and get it but I'm not standing in line for this shit anymore.

GTA5 online is the only videogame I occasionally will play. I haven't played it in a while though. I just like flying around in the jets online. Not sure it'll be worth it to spend money on a new PS(whatever version it is now) or xbox (is xbox even a thing anymore)?

I have an xbox 360 but I don't think I use it enough to justify getting a new console. Videogames are a major waste of time, but sometimes I like getting blasted and flying around buzzing people and doing aerobatics with other pilots.

It took hundreds of hours of my life as an adolescent because it was a big sandbox, these days I've fallen into the boomer trap of thinking that there's simply not enough time left of my life to thoroughly enjoy games and so I play competitive drop-in titles with my mates mostly. Sometimes I'll sit down for a 'bigger' experience, usually an action-RPG, but I don't really feel strongly about games as I once did.

Glad I never went into the industry all wide-eyed and expectant, thinking my enjoyment would ride out until I died. I reckon most game devs who get into the industry and grow up must feel like massive fucking idiots, like spending your life working at a fairground because you enjoyed being there as a kid.

I'm playing through IV. Only problem I have is that the radio sucks but I made my own and its got lots of wonderful little moments like Dixie Chicks 'Not Ready To Make Nice' coming on as I drive to the final mission.

I downloaded GTA IV as I had CFW on my PS3. Only played a few missions.
I played the intro GTA V only because it was on Game Pass and they offered some bonuses.
I also own physical copies of IV and V, but don't have much interest in VI, especially when it's another year out.

TP2 is a little much to take in with the robot fellas but the puzzles are definitely on point. The last DLC for T2 was actually challenging to the point of me having to leave and come back to puzzles after thinking about them offline or figuring the steps on paper. The robots eventually grew on me though.

The lazy devs just keep making the same 4 cities, yet they're different maps every time. There isn't really much more that can be done with the concept, you just go around stealing and killing shit. They dropped the ball on at least giving us foreign cities to keep it slightly more interesting.

Mercenaries was a great game because it was like GTA but with a war going on in the background, so you could travel to the frontlines and it became a war game. GTA could do something like that, or have an area where there's a riot/race war going on and you can kill with impunity. Instead it's just boring, start a mass shooting, drive around. Wow, gay.

There is nothing to satarize. V was struggling with the legalize coke prop ads. V even directly tried to address this on the face in the therapy intro with Michael. The Rockstar writing has never been great, and the open world is now small and stuffed like a Bethesda title. Hardware limits no longer breed creativity.

Even as a kid I never cared for GTA games. The novelty of being able to do whatever you want in their sandbox gets old very quickly.
The trailers look like they promise way too much and will be underwhelming on release. All the areas are densely populated with NPCs. You're telling me there won't be any performance issues? Yeah right.

It sucked after San Andreas. IV marked Rockstars first foray into "MUH REALISM. MUH GRITTY REALITY SIM" and it's been downhill since. GTA6 has taken ten years to make and it was likely written during the hype liberal BLM era of 2020-2023. By the time it comes out, its political and cultural commentary will be hopelessly dated and quaint. It will also be the last single player GTA. The next installments will just be live services or there just won't be any more at all. They will instead opt to just update the online framework every 5 years or so with paltry new features, maybe new areas, etc. The online players are the pay piggies, developing a single player experience is far too expensive.

I suspect a lot of people have simply grown out the game and it no longer has the same appeal it once had when we were teenagers.
