my family is from Białystok. I have to Poland many times over the past 10 years because my firm sends me there for consultant work. I must say that Poland is a rather underdeveloped country and it lacks various markers of being a first-class developed nation. However, it seems like a decent enough place to di business. Business environment could improve, but it is alright. With that said, I think that I'm applying for Polish citizenship just so that I can get an EU passport. It would be pretty comfy. Now, does Poland make me seethe? No. It's just fine IMHO. It could be better, but I don't expect high class sophistication from a country that just survived communist occupation a generation ago.
