Mass shooting investigation underway near Hickory, at least 12 victims confirmed

Hickory, North Carolina - One person is dead and at least 11 others were hurt in a mass shooting early Sunday morning in a rural area near Hickory, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday.

At least twelve people were shot with one victim confirmed dead and another in critical condition, according to police information as of 8 a.m.

The deadly shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Authorities found multiple gunshot victims at a home Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View area of southwest Catawba County.

The other ten victims are in serious condition in area hospitals, a spokesperson told WCNC Charlotte. The spokesperson said a party had taken place at the house.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning and authorities have not released information about potential suspects.
