i lived in banff for over a decade and i became disillusioned about canada on week 2 or 3 probably. this is of course after talking to so many people from other countries where things are awesome, and nobody has to put up with the shit conditions and lack of choice that canadians think is normal. i really had no idea about this kind of thing until i lived and worked with so many foreigners from all over.
since then i have wanted to leave to go pretty much anywhere else, but circumstances make that impossible at the moment.

i mean, when you find out that even south americans generally get better quality schooling with more advanced subjects taught at younger ages than americans or canadians, it's mind boggling. apparently mexicans learn math in high school that is usually taught at the university level in north america. i remember reading the blog of some american expat in mexico, and he was a pretty smart guy with a masters degree but for the life of him couldn't help his 15 year old daughter with her homework.
