If a car is driving at 150-170 mph, and they come across a car in the left lane passing someone at 80 mph, that's going to result in hard braking and/or changing lanes.
There are some places out west where I believe they have 80+ mph speed limits. I feel like 90-100 mph is the absolute maximum for traveling with normal passenger traffic.

Masshole here. Although the northeast has mostly a 65 mph speed limit, the normal traveling speed for traffic on highways is 80 mph. If you're 80 or under, the cops are not stopping you. I drive 80 all the time, and there are always cars going faster than me. This is Mass, Connecticut, NY state.

People in the US use the left lane as a cruising lane, and they feel entitled to drive in the left lane at any speed. If they hold up traffic, they don't give a fuck.
When I drive, I have no problem pulling over to let faster cars go by me. But other people treat it like an act of war for some bizarre reason. If the speed limit is 65, and I'm driving 80 in the left lane, and someone pulls up behind me, I move over and let them go by me.

Most freeways in california have the limit at 75 and I know at least one interstate in the midwest somewhere has it at 80 - including for big rigs.

Most common use of cameras is in NYC where they use them for people blocking intersections in the city. Like the light turns red and some asshole pulls into the intersection which blocks cross traffic and causes gridlock. They have cameras that catch them and give them massive fines.
