I think this leads to an interesting concept with modern society, specifically to people that have been given too much as they grow up and feel entitled. People that are entitled don't understand the concept of compensation, specifically that they do not understand the concept of offering a service and being paid for it and instead expect to be paid, and contingently will handle the service.

An example is that coworker that someone dislikes because they don't have the right work ethic. Most people who enjoy their job come to work, do what they enjoy doing for a larger cause (typically led by capitalism), then receive compensation for what they're doing. That coworker that is disliked often doesn't do that. They come to work expecting a paycheck, and for that reason alone do what they need to in order to get by. They cause efficiency issues, possibly safety issues (depending on the work), and harm the overall purpose of the company.

If society can get back to the mindset of being a part of something larger than themselves (i.e. purpose driven by work, religion, family, etc) then I think society can begin normalizing, but that cannot happen with the amount of people that no longer trust the big picture.
