Joke? I lived near a mennonite group in cave city and no one ever mocked them or even said anything bad; great butter, pickles and jams. When I moved to PA for another job we had Amish Neighbors, they were cool too. Not a life style for me, but they are as down to earth as you can get.

Ah, to me the Amish and Mennonites have been nothing but kind. I was invited over for hymns and prayer many a time and I took them up on it. Felt at peace out on the land and closer to God, helping out when I could. Now I'm up in Maine and I have all the nature, but none of the community and I miss it from time to time.

They are my neighbors. I talk with them daily. My wife takes their kids to school.

We were told the same thing when we moved here. Stay away from them. We didn't listen and eventally started talking with them. They are the best neighbors I have ever had. We trade eggs from our chickens for milk from their cows. Their kids have helped split and stack firewood for us and help take care of pretty much any type of work that we need done. They come over for birthdays, and we help with their animals and they help with ours. Honestly one of the few relationships that have been rewarding for our family.
