the US does not 'lose nothing'. money is not wealth. what happens is we create a trade deficit of $1.2T per year. that money left the country. it was supposed to be goods and services that left the country, to get the money back, but the money was kept by the trade partner.

so the US has less money, and to have the same domestic economy, needs to print $1.2T to finance the trade gap. that's what happens--all government spending has to equal the trade imbalance or else we dont have the same amount of money domestically.

that's also why everyone is getting poorer and poorer. all the money printing causes inflation. it doesn't matter that we're the world reserve currency because USA citizens still have to pay in hyper-strong dollars for everything. everything in the USA is too expensive, too costly, to even export anymore. that's because 'the world reserve currency' problem gets worse and worse every year from growing trade deficits.
