What is causing this decline in Christianity among Europeans?

what could cause europe to go from 70% christian to a quarter christian and falling in three generations?
its not as if the bible changed, or jesus changed. its interdasting.
so what happened that might explain christianity dying out? it really makes ya think

you could make christianity illegal essentially, like in the eastern bloc, but that doesnt stop someone from actually believing in jesus, so we would expect to see a resurgence once the communist bloc fell, so its not that. we saw two world wars, and lots of christians died, but these are overall percentages, not raw numbers, and those who died would have still had families, children who grew up and persisted, wives back at home, etc. the churches are still there, albeit empty ghost towns, they still operate.

so what is it? muslim invaders can only explain a small fraction of that, and its trajectory doesnt correlate with the muslim and african migrations, but rather seems to have been in full effect prior to, and throughout that period.

and the same argument with the migrants applies to vatican tooo also, which occurred later on in the process around the 60s i think, and still would only even account for catholics, and this decline was already in full effect

i think this question is alot more complicated than it might initially appear. on the surface at a quick proposition, you would think x, y, z, but when you actually account those factors to their precise applicability/inapplicability it doesnt explain the occurring steady declination

In the olden days, the church was a unique place for people to gather for leisure and fellowship. As society industrialized, many other sources of leisure and entertainment became widely available to the public. Why listen to some boring preacher when you could catch your favorite baseball game on Sunday instead? A lot of superior alternatives arose and people naturally drifted away. Another thing to keep in mind is that people work a lot more now so if you bust your ass all week, getting ready to go to church sunday morning isn't exactly appealing. Even less so when there's the expectation of tithing.

the church used to operate those giant clocktowers in towns. every morning at the crack of dawn they would wake up the entire town to tell their slaves to go to work, and then again when to go to bed.
when capitalism came around, the church took bribes for wealthy capitalists to change the schedule the rings earlier than dawn to force every extra minute of work out of them that they could. how insufferable it must have been to not even be a farmer, working a night job or on your own schedule to constantly have to be woken up by the jewish church for their other slaves.

north/western european christianity has mostly been a tool of feudalism and before and after feudalism christianity is completely different, organized religion is simply a political institution that serves its own purposes like any other.
