That would invariably be a major point of contention in the negotiation phase of separation after a successful referendum. As per Clarity Act and Supreme Court rulings, Gov of Canada would be obligated to negotiate with us in good faith. Since the treaties were signed between the band and the government of Canada, the native peoples question would be a federal responsibility. I suppose Canada could offer to terminate the signed treaty on the condition that the new AB gov sign a similar treaty with them instead, or any particular band could decide to stick with the Canadian treaty and in a sense be a micronation within the AB nation.
