Most likely it was likely the fact that solar power has the ability to disconnect extremely quickly when something goes south, unlike normal thermal powerplants which disconnect at a slower rate, which gives time for the system to readjust itself. Instead, when something went wrong (we still don't know what or where) all solar reacted by disconnecting in an instant sending the whole thing crashing down, specially considering most of the system was being powered by solar at the moment. This is a possibility that was discussed already, even in other countries, and some solar installations were being upgraded so they wouldn't disconnect instantly in case something like this happened, but most solar facilities still hadn't been upgraded.

As someone that lives just outside Lisbon, 20ish minutes away from the center of the city by car - i honestly feel fucked.
Yesterday everything was ok, but you just know that it's these big city centers and the surrounding 50kms that fall first. In a blackout that lasts more than 2 days, by the night of day 3 it'll be absolute anarchy on the streets of niggers and migrants looting, raping, destroying, breaking into houses and cars.
The sad part is that our nigger, gypsy and migrant community have more fire power than our police and probably military together... And trusting police and military is already a danger in itself.
I can't move because of work, but I'm desperately looking for work from home alternatives, so I can go deeper into the country and try to become as self sustainable as possible. Not easy to do here, especially because I also have a little kid.
What surprises me is that people organized themselves to keep traffic flowing almost normally even though no traffic lights were working anywhere in the country. Even in a crisis situation we are very far from a normal day in India. I didn't give much for my country but I'm proud.

Hell even here in the Canaries, where we had no power outages of any kind, most people lost their internet connection, something that is incredibly rare. I was forced to stay completely offline for like 6 hours because neither my home wifi nor my mobile line worked (except for emergencies).
