There were a couple things that really fucked the CPC.

- Soft on Immigration. Their policy was practically identical to the Liberal policy so, for people who were swayed by the Immigration issue there was relatively little difference between the parties. Taking a harder stance on immigration, and hopefully spurring more wage growth, would have helped differentiate them.

- Reticence to come out strongly against Trump when he first imposed the Tariffs. Failing to rapidly pivot on this nailed the casket shut by associating the brand with MAGA. Trump has completely poisoned the brand of populist conservatism here, and Pierre needed to distance himself from it as much as was possible, but hesitated.

- Danielle Smith needs to be muzzled. Everytime she opened her mouth the CPC lost votes. The qualities which make her electable in Alberta make her radioactive to the bulk of the rest of the country.

- The ending woke rhetoric further associated them with MAGA style populism, and scared NDP voters into strategically voting for the liberals. Regardless of whether you feel this is justified as policy or not, the only way conservatives ever win in this country is by lulling NDP voters into vote splitting the centre-left. The worst thing a CPC candidate can do is scare NDP voters.
