Listening the radio you didn’t know if shit was gonna be fixed in hours or in days. Phones weren’t working, couldn’t call anyone. No water either. In the 90s you would still have water and telephone line during a blockout, you could call an ambulance if needed. But this time we knew nothing.

How can you decide to stay in place or leave? Starlink is good but I'd be afraid that it won't work in the next outage because so many people went out it bought one. They could easily run out of bandwith like cell phone towers do during emergencies. You should buy a small AA battery powered SW radio.

If you can help a bunch of people in your community to do something as simple as charge their phones when they're trying to contact family etc, they'll be eternally grateful.
