It's true that you see more contrails today than you used to. It's a consequence of several factors. (1) There's more air traffic than there's ever been,
(2) jet engines are more efficient than they've ever been - more efficient jet engines produce contrails at warmer temperatures, resulting in the thickness of the contrail layer increasing
(3) Atmospheric water vapor in the troposphere is higher than it's been in millennia. Higher water vapor mixing ratios results in the extent of contrail layer increasing and also produces more persistent (ice-saturated) contrails.
These aren't the result of stratospheric aerosol injection.
(1) SAI requires the deposition of megatons of material in the stratosphere, 20-30 thousand feet higher than commercial traffic flies
(2) SAI would require a fleet of hundreds of vehicles flying multiple sorties a day in order to deposit megatons of material into the stratosphere - even if they had the fuel capacity of a stratotanker (~100 tons) and a higher ceiling.
(3) Such a program would be impossible to hide from enthusiasts monitoring ADSB and flight radar.
(4) Atmospheric aerosol vertical profiles are monitored by multiple international sensor networks. SAI would be detected quite early by any one of these.
(5) You wouldn't see SAI as a contrail plume. Contrails are visible because water vapor from combustion (1.25kg/kg fuel) condensed on soot and forms particles large enough to scatter light.
