Because it's not a real disease, rather a way the school system and psychiatrists in many western countries decided to 'explain' a large percentage of cases where male children were having any sort of problem. Also many parents and adults actually pursue being diagnosed because it can confer benefits. There is no objective way to test if someone has 'autism' and the supposed diagnostic criteria don't even make sense because it is not a real thing.
