I’m a single father making just over 50k a year and I do fine. I don’t get ebt or even child support. I do live in a very rural area though so the low rents help.

No idea. I've got health issues that keep me from working and my anxiety keeps me from starting a business. My wife earns enough money to keep us afloat. Just inherited a country home with land. We're both in our early 40s as well so I doubt kids are still on the menu. I'm just concerned with keeping us stable and happy.

Kids aren't that expensive, our household income is only around 110k. The first one we spent a lot of money stupidly because we were new parents and wanted the best stuff but by the second you realize you don't need the best and that you can actually get most shit for free from other parents/facebook groups/kijiji, etc. Yeah, my main hobby computers has suffered a but (still got an i7-2600k) but whatever other shit takes overvand you don't care

Fire and EMS have worked out pretty good. If you are cut out for it, its a decent gig. Pay is decent. 24 hour shift every 3rd day. You can do this at 2 jobs for a while to get ahead, but never work 2 jobs long term. Down time at the station is like pol irl. The calls are like hore threads irl. I cook at the station which is like the polish soup threads we used to have. 24 on 48 off schedule allows for a lot of time with the kids.
