I'm not someone who's had their job threatened by AI, at least not yet. I'm a chef, I work with my hands, and it seems like it will be a while before AI replaces people like me. Still, I'm so tired of seeing AI generated slop all over the internet. Can we just admit that all these low-effort AI-prompted blog posts, fake videos, zero-effort slop posts etc. fucking suck ass?
I can't look at any post online, any work of art, any video anymore without wondering "is this something someone put effort into making, or just fake AI slop that someone shat out?"
Every time someone uses AI to write one of their posts, I lose a bunch of respect for them.. it's usually low-IQ morons who rely on AI to do their thinking for them, because they're lazy idiots, they don't like to think by themselves, it's too much of a challenge for them, so they'll just prompt AI, "hey break down this post for me and make it simpler", "come up with a response for this", not realizing that their AI-generated SHIT isn't worth SHIT. Because something that people didn't bother to write in the first place, isn't worth reading! Why would you put in the effort to read something you know was generated by a lazy AI-dependent retard who can't do something so simple as write for themselves? It's a waste of fucking time!

From a different perspective if you have the ability to use and understand AI you can learn just about anything for an extremely minimal cost. I have used it to repair my water heater, diagnose issues with my car, even determine what is wrong with myself or loved ones without a doctor when they are sick or even in some cases when the dr doesnt have a clue what the issue is. I use it every single day for my job, and it's very true, if you can understand how to manipulate ai, learn when it's full of shit and when it's not, what bits to take and what pieces to ignore you will be able to do pretty much anything at at least a basic level. This tool gives you the ability to problem solve at an exponentially faster rate. While jobs will be lost the ones who survive will thrive in ways that they never thought possible.

I live in Iowa and guess what? The entire farming industry has become automated. Farms that used to require 20+ employees are now run by one or two guys. They dont even have to go to the farm everyday because it’s all that automated.

Warehouse work is not special. The only difference is that warehouse owners are generally cheaper and slower to adapt than farmers are.

Is AI slop really going to be that disruptive?
I understand that we are just in the early stages of this new and potentially revolutionary technology, but what AI does right now is not exactly sustainable.
AI companies are offering their services FOR FREE or at a very affordable fee in an effort to promote the hype and stay relevant and attract more investors. But those investors may expect a return at some point and unless someone manages to make AI cheaper, financial returns will not materialize and the AI bubble will burst harder than the dotcom bubble over two decades ago.
The dotcom bubble obviously didn't kill the internet, but it greatly redimensioned people's expectations of what the internet could actually do.

Now, DeepSeek seems to be a first step in the direction of making AI models cheaper (by piggybacking on GPT), but DeepSeek is still loss-making and I do not think it is at all obvious that a reasonably priced AI services industry will ever offer slop of such high quality that human creators will become wholly redundant.

Then again, I don't know much about AI so these are just my two cents.
