Maybe it started when I found out through them that Americans persecute each other for saying nigger out loud. I couldn't believe it and the walls of text Redditors would make to keep each other convinced just made me doubt their sanity. Then I started doubting everything they said and everything I was taught so far, and realized things were not that shiny even on my side of the world either.
I got increasingly frustrated by not being able to get through to them. I didn't leave because I was paranoid of using social media services that asked for a phone number and didn't know about Anon Babble, so I just stayed there for 7 or 8 years without talking to anyone else about it lol
