Here is a fun hypothetical for you.
Lets assume it has been proven, beyond any doubt. Absolutely undeniable to anyone on Earth that there is in fact an afterlife. A good glorious afterlife, everything anyone might consider heaven (not arguing semantics)
Lets also assume, with the same amount of validity, that not only is an afterlife real, but EVERYONE gets to go when they die. Except suicides, doesn't matter where they go, it isnt heaven. (Also not arguing the semantics of suicide) Self sacrifice not counting. If you know your actions will result in your death, but it will save another, you're fine.
This has all just been revealed now.
Now, how do you think the world will change?
How do you think you will change?
Please state whether or not you're religious in your answer as well, thanks!
Now, for something slightly different
pawg milf.
NICE!
This is a nonsense shit premise
But I did eat breakfast
Not an argument. You fucking suck at debates and philosophy. You're a nigger. You cant deal in hypotheticals.
There is an afterlife. NDERF.ORG
All of our ancestors believed in one. History is the answer. Modern thinkers deny it so they all become coomers and consumers driven by fear and FOMO.
This. Spbp. OP is an idiot.
Giant murder chain where people volunteer to get killed for speedy access to heaven.
Heaven is impossible btw, without suffering you would have no reason to continue existing.
what does this have to do with politics
You're a Christian, aren't you?
i would take up tight rope walking over volcanos
Well considering most people believe this already, you'd only be changing the minds of atheists. Life on earth would get worse than it already is.
So I can rape and murder and steal and do whatever I want and I go to heaven? Can I rape and murder in heaven too?
Now, how do you think the world will change?
Many would be a fuckton more selfish and self-serving. If your actions harm someone, it doesn't matter as that person will go to paradise so just do whatever you want. The bigger change would be with religious orgs and governments as now their ability to control people would be threatened as what is currently viewed as "being good and moral" would no longer be valued as much by the populace. Why listen to someone or some org if they want to stop you living how you want? Go on and take what you want, hurt who you want. Go forth and rape, murder, torture, and so on to your heart's content as there are no negative ramifications for said actions. It don't matter, nothing matters since when you die you go to heaven.
Society would tend more towards the "law of the jungle", ie. "the question isn't who will let me, but rather who will stop me".
Another Christian detected.
Does this afterlife have Elden Ring?
Only tangentially related but I think the idea should spread more; Christians! Nothing in the bible condemns suicide. Kill yourself to get to God and Heaven faster. Churches only condemn it because they know it is a major flaw in their ideology.
flaw in their ideology.
And hit to their bank account.
Nothing in the bible condemns suicide
I think it can be argued that suicide is "murder of oneself" and the 6th commandment, "thou shall not murder", comes into play.
I would argue otherwise. It is specifically the killing of another human being without their consent. It would not count in the case of suicide, you are consenting to take the action upon yourself.
I don't think Christians give a fuck about what the bible actually says, anon. And the ones who do read the bible can't agree on what it says anyway.
Yes, unfortunately you are correct.
Taking a life is taking a life, consensual or not.
Are there hierarchies in this heaven? Do the more moral people take higher positions in this afterlife?
I would start wondering how much of peoples behaviour is determined by the fact they will die. Do they only do good because they will live after they die, or do good for the sake of goodness. I would hope the latter but prepare for the former.
No, semantics and the exact definitions of words matter. Do you think God is so retarded as to not be precise? Has he not failed in his supposed 'word' given all humanity has done is argue over interpretations for thousands of years desu.
Suicide is never allowed.
If you are secular, citizens are property of the state and suicide is tantamount to destruction/theft of property.
If you are christian, your life is property of your god.
You will own nothing and you will be happy.
Deaths and funerals would obviously be significantly less miserable. There's an argument to be made that anyone who cries at a funeral doesn't REALLY believe in heaven.
Aside from that I actually suspect not much would change. Most religions believe in some kind of afterlife so each one would carry on assuming that their interpretation of the specifics is the right one. They might get less preachy about it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I don't think I would change my life much. I would still find it important to be a decent person who tries to do the right thing and and treats people the way I'd like to be treated.
Please state whether or not you're religious in your answer
I'm almost atheist, but not quite because I have a strong suspicion that certain events (creation of universe, abiogenesis, emergence of consciousness...) were not natural and can't be artificially replicated. I think it's probably impossible to make life out of non-living materials in a lab, for example.
I don't necessarily actively believe "well it must have been a god then", but that's kind of the default explanation if I don't think it was a random natural event.
Does this mean hell would also exist? Then I Guess people would do anything possible to not end up there, I know I would.
Afterlife isn't real though, it makes no sense. When you die you cease to exist, your abstract eternal mind can only exist with a physical body to give it form. Otherwise you are nothing until he next cycle where the exact body and brain needed to form your consciousness gets replicated again. Could take countless aeons.
I think it's more that humans have changed his word to suit their own definition such that the original intention of God becomes corrupted. Who knows, maybe God did give strict definitions and just said "I told you what I meant, what you do with it is up to you". I'd say it is a failing that God doesn't enforce his meaning.
What about the nigger question? Specifically, when a nigger causes himself to be shot by the police. In that moment, the nigger doesn't consent, yet he is shot.
I think the entire premise is absurd. A divine omnipresent eternal perfect loving entity would not put his eternal word and command into a fragmented book that he knew would be misinterpreted, translated different ways and have sections added and lost over time. The entire premise is so retarded I cannot believe it ever got a foothold in human thought in the first place.
I hate humans so much, that I would still kill myself in order to not go to the same place.
Fuck all of you.
breathe a big sigh of relief and then kiss my boyfriend?
what a tragic ass
crying at funerals means you don't believe in heaven
The religious still cry at their funerals, even though you get to see them in the next life, you lose them in this one. There is so much here on Earth to share with the people you love, so many memories, maybe you'll have children your parents won't get to meet or something until you're all dead, not being able to have those experiences with the person you lost can be sad.
Agreed on the absurdity. Remember that religion came about as a way of having a common bond with your tribe in ways to try to explain the unexplainable and lay some shared beliefs. Said religion also gets used by those who want power and control, and can be used as a tool to spread those people's power. Look at the Catholic Church throughout the ages, as well as Islam and many other religions.
If I qualify for heaven, can I opt for simple nonexistence instead?
No + all your ancestors are there and they have been watching your whole life so far
it was never said that you go to the same place they do, or have to interact with them. only that the place you go is good and glorious and basically heaven. if you don't want to be around other people, your "heaven" would reflect that. very short sighted to kill yourself and end up in limbo or worse just because other people annoy you in this finite existence.
No
Well then forget it the deals off.
The discovery of a heavenly afterlife where everyone can go would be functionally equivalent to the discovery that there is no afterlife. Morality would disappear.
If it was discovered there was no afterlife, you would stop doing good things? Then maybe you were never a good person at all.
In that case, most religions would fall apart and people would live like immoral savages. It's easy for most white westerners to fall back on philosophy for a reason to treat people correctly regardless, but the average person won't care about that.
If that were heaven to you, it would be whatever you wanted I suppose. Stop arguing semantics though. You're missing the point of the question.
I wasn't speaking specifically about myself, but nice projection there.
How would YOU specifically change if the OP question were reality?
I would like to play with her titties, if you know what I mean.
How do you think you will change?
I would be disgusted because I want americans to go to a hell filled with violent niggers to serve as slaves to demon lord jews. Just like they want for us.
You lost me there.
I would make it my life goal to convince through any means necessary every last kike and nigger to kill themselves immediately.
the world: I guess everyone who has been held in check by the threat of hell would fly off the handle.
me: I guess the obvious is that I wouldn't kill myself, and not much would change other than that affected by the absence of death-angst.
t. non-believer
People would do retarded shit trying to fool God with so called righteous acts.
Every good person would lay down their life saving another at every possible chance, because they are ready for Heaven. Every bad person would still cling to the pleasures of this world, and begin fighting for dominance. Humanity would then end within one or two generations, or at least be reduced enough in numberthat this revelation of Heaven would one day become a religious myth and eventually mankind would rebuild, with the arcane knowledge forgotten.
We don't think of you
I would suck cocks in front of her and watch her delight.
Atheist
Why would people commit suicide after having this revealed?
I would do nothing different because I understand and soft agree with Pascal’s wager
I egret nothing
Most people already believe that so nothing would change.
Also would rock granny's world with my cock and balls
If everyone gets to go, you’d see hedonism like never before and people doing things without any fear of death or consequences.
