The concepts of fairness, integrity, and the "gentlemanly" way of playing sports/ daily conduct are deeply rooted in indian culture, going back to vedic era which valued honor, respect for adversaries, and graciousness in victory or defeat.
Indians in particular nurtured these ideals in schools, emphasizing physical education as a means to build character, discipline, and moral virtue.
These ideals, along with many of the philosophy invented by the Indians, were extended to the rest of the world.
Whites especially Dutch try to erode these ideals.
