thats what my parents did for me and my brother, except i didnt get the good scholarship that would have saved $30k. if i had gotten one better grade (b- to a b or similar), anything, id have gotten it. but now ive got 40k of student loan debt, and my brother owns his own house (hes got a mortgage, but no student loan debt). and thats my own fault not my parents.
hes still in college and doesnt want to live at home. but im living here with my wife and baby now, so no room for him anyways unless we build an addition, and if we do that why not go with the estate plan.
you did good, we are very much set up for success. i make good money, but if i had to pay a mortgage and bills, id be incredibly poor and would have to make significant adjustments. we already live modestly too. but i am saving as much as i can, and paying off my debt. it feels as if i have the income of someone who SHOULD be able to afford all that i do currently, plus extra bills and a mortgage.
