I’ve personally found Indian social groups to be easier to interact with than Asian social groups personally, might have to do with the fact they less frequently share a non-English language in common with one another they communicate with, or maybe it’s a cultural thing idk. Didn’t find conversation to be any more difficult with them personally.

Not sure what you’re on that makes you think this way at all, Indians have no problem with white people as far as I can tell and race wasn’t even something that bothered my Indian gf’s parents as far as I could pick up. The girl I dated only seemed to be mildly prejudiced towards black people, not sure if that was an issue of her own she was working through or something from her parents but yeah.

I used to think India was relatively free and democratic, but from what I’ve seen the only thing stopping the country from being just like China is its lack of centralization. Hopefully the country is able to get its crap together and do away with the systemic corruption (however tf countries go about doing that) so it can be the positive power on the world stage it has the potential to be.

It depends on the Indian. The problem is that most people don’t feel like giving any quarter to them, and reasonably so. Maybe I just live in the wrong area, but the Indians where I’m at seem much more focused on academic prestige than social prestige, and that doesn’t translate generationally as much as many people think it does (Indian kids with academically obsessed tiger moms often end up rebelling as a result). They definitely have their fair share of jerks but the Indian social groups I’ve been in have been kinder than a lot of mostly-white social groups. They often have a lot of funny cultural quirks from what I’ve seen as well, some Indian households are really bothered by wasting food while others really couldn’t care less.

I live in an area where the population is like 25% Indian minimum and it is extremely low crime, like so low a dumpster was vandalized with graffiti and it got on the local newspaper. You get a decent amount of crime spillover from Mexico because a lot of poor and desperate migrants come from there but that really isn’t the case for Indian/Asian migrants, who tend to come from relatively wealthy families and at worst are “tourists” or temporary workers that overstay their visas.

I really don’t get why people are so against the idea of talented migrants coming over and taking up jobs here when meritocracy is such a core part of the American identity.

Any analysis of the economy based on "jobs" is inherently wrong btw. They could just pass a law setting a maximum of 2h of daily work and there'd be an absolute abundance of jobs. But it wouldn't benefit society because the "jobs" analysis is wrong. There's not a limited set of jobs that people have to compete for. Every technological advancement makes it so less labor is needed and somehow people never run out of jobs. If you look at a couple centuries ago and compare the technology to now, we should be all out of jobs according to that logic.

Pretty much all of the Indian/Asian kids where I’m at are 1st gen so no, not at all. The area was historically white from my understanding but the really good public schooling here made it very appealing to ambitious migrant families and the area has really expanded as a result. I always thought it was a little strange how all of the teachers were white while only ~50% of the school was white when I was a kid, but there were a couple of Indian teachers around by the time I was on my last year of High School.

Really hit and miss. I find my experiences with jeets to be either very positive, or outright terrible. There's rarely an interaction I have with a jeet that's just mediocre
