Apparently, I came at the worst time, since my fiancée who lives there was over here for a month, before I went over there with her, but her mother called her and told her about the heat wave. It was the worst they had in 20 years. It was so hot, that when I went to Florida less than a month later, it was 90 degrees out every day, but didn't even feel remotely hot.

But when I went back in December/January, it was more like 50 to 60 degrees outside.

Check out Greenville, SC. The weather's not near as bad as the rest of the South due to the elevation. It's a decent sized city with money around. Fair amount of niggers--as with anywhere in the South--but a fair amount of nigger haters. Look up the store "Dixie Republic." That should give you an idea of what the white culture around there is like. I've spent a good bit of time around here, and I can tell you it's a good place and worth a visit.

No, it isn’t, unless you’re in far west Texas(as opposed to “west Texas”, which is actually central TX, such as Midland), like Odessa or El Paso. If you’re in Houston, it’s an unimaginable hell-sauna with air that breathes as thick as water.
Either you’re built for it or you’re not, personally I revel in the heat. 100, 110 is no problem at all, though I’d say 85-90 is ideal in terms of comfort. 95 and above is good swimming weather, more so at night. Below 70? It’s cold. But winter doesn’t last long in Texas, and one can rely on warm weather from March until November, reliably. I miss the warm days and long summers, the hot Texas sun blazing overhead as I combed through miles of junkyards full of 40s-current model cars in rust-free condition looking for just the right parts for whatever car I was rebuilding at the time. Now I’m in Massachusetts, where it’s only reliably warm from June to September, with some mix of good days in May and October. Most of the year, it’s too cold to get a damn thing done outside.

Texas is nice from January til about now, then it's just unbearable heat until mid october, then nice again.
In the summer just get your shit done early in the morning or after 6pm if you need to mow or something. Try to stay indoors. You really do sort of get used to the heat, in some ways. 106F and standing in the sun yeah, it sucks. But if there's some shade and some wind you'll be alright.

I think ultimately I just have to choose between shit winters (everything north of the 40th parallel) or shit summers (everything south). So far the area I've been slowly focusing in on has been Georgia, the two Carolinas, and eastern TN.

One thing few people mention is how prevalent mosquitos are in the humid areas of south USA. Not having to deal with that constant buzzing is a blessing.

The great thing about neighborhoods is that they can be actually quite liberating for the kids, though the parents who live there tend to seem isolated, it’s because they choose to live isolated lives wherein they’ve shunned friendship in favor of building their careers, networking outside of the neighborhood if at all. This is coming from someone who grew up in brand new homes in brand new neighborhoods throughout the 90’s until my graduation from HS in 2010, in a new home in a new up and coming middle-class neighborhood initially in St. Louis, but mostly in D/FW. The good thing about moving in to the new section of a relatively new neighborhood within a generally nice but still growing area is that there are plenty of other families with kids. I’d imagine this is true in new starter home communities as well, but as time wears on, the chances of it becoming a childless run-down working class area increases exponentially. The kids in my area, once they reached about age 8-10, would be allowed free range of the entire neighborhood from sunrise until the lights came on- actually, rather than allowed, it was more like shoved out the door, which was promptly locked, and told to make sure my ass was back when the streetlights came on. I made many friends in the neighborhood, becoming best friends with whoever would let me tag team GTA. Though I knew the water drains running under the neighborhood(and town) like the back of my hand.
