Something that clicked for me is understanding the survivors in camps were on par with the rest of Germany in means of weight, health, shell shock etc if the camps were "liquidated" none would have been left, the remaining Germans knew the allies were in route to major cities months before they actually arrived and the fact there is still jews and other prisoners alive at all means they were given rations when the entire country was collapsing and German citizens were starving and dying as well. The Jews in camps were not dead they were alive, if the Germans had abandoned the camps and retreated they all would have died. The time it took the allies to close in on Germany was too long for survival. So how do they explain how they were kept alive. They put Germans in camps and systematically deported and murdered women and children after "peace" was decided.
