I was in this situation as department head (I actually oversaw HR but my boss and her boss were both femoids so same difference), and eventually they came to HATE me, but I was simply too productive and effective for them to can me outright. No I knew every time. But the money was okay for a recent grad and my on site supervisor was a pretty good dude who went so far out of his way to shield us from all the bullshit in the rest of the company that it was actually an enjoyable job.
