If you discovered infinite energy from a distant untaped source, what need is there for nuclear reactors anymore? They're much more productive than wind but the potential for a meltdown becomes an unnecessary risk. If you need low level infrastructural energy outside of your main source of power, than decommissioning them and replacing the plants with much lower efficiency, zero risk sources becomes the optimal solution.
