The general consensus I always hear is "we need to build parallel institutions." The general idea is that we locally organize and help each other out and have a loose framework to work with and be somewhat more prepared when conditions change in the future.

I was just thinking of typing something about this. I think you're right. There needs to be a new unifying ideology, something with a name and a symbol. Some might scoff at that, but symbols are powerful. Look at logos, they're symbols that carry instant meaning, it matters.

BTW geography and distance is underrated when talking about Europe and America. I agree that Europe stands a good chance of something catching on. People laugh at Europe for being "small," but they're not as split up and atomized relative to Americans. This all trickles down into how politics pragmatically function and with that, how people in turn think and act.
