The main distributors in my industry are raking in record profits off this because of this shit. Tariffs go up 25% and magically their prices go up 40% (for items already on their shelf since they’re going off replacement cost) and charge even more for items in “low stock”. If a manufacturer in China is charging Walmart $3 to produce and ship a product to the US, it is getting tariffed on that price. Not the retail price. 30% of cost of production is way different than 30% of cost of resale. Companies are paying 50¢ more per item, and raising the retail cost by $5 per item.
