I had a guy come in to send off paperwork for him sponsoring his family members and he has to provide income/pay stubs. Dude got brought in to be an engineer for Grainger and is making 150k. I've been in a similar position to this guy and it's pretty much endemic to the corporate environment. I try to do my part by explaining, in simple terms, how the listing is like 30% under market rate for the position desired, but there's always a boomer over me screaming about how he wants an H1B.

Incidentally the difference between Trump and Biden on this is night and day, during Trump term 1 H1Bs were slowed dramatically and my employer was forced to hire Americans because they couldn't wait 18 months for approval. Biden got in and suddenly every H1B was a rubber stamp, I don't think we hired a single American during his term, the turnaround time was unironically the fastest I've ever seen the feds work.
