They’ve been retired since the 1980’s, only a few marine brigades were using still T-55s when the SU fell and they switched to T-80s since then. Bringing the surviving stockpile back to a serviceable condition is much more difficult than with the T-62 which was retired in 2013 and still had available spare parts and munitions in storage. When the Russians have used the T-55 in Ukraine it’s usually only with 3-man crews (loader, gunner and driver) in an indirect fire/artillery role.

Russia produces around 100 MBTs a month and refurbishes another 100 (mostly T-72B and T-80BV, maybr some T-62). So in a year, they deploy roughly 2500 tanks. As for AFV's, the numbers are similar. Are the numbers high enough/sustainable? In the short run probably not. In the long run likely yes.

Russia had a LOT of APCs/IFVS before the invasion roughly 29000 so they still have seveeral thousand of them and a lot of rusting hulks to pull parts from for older moderls. They have about 2000 tanks left, not all functional, some semi functional (no engine, gun, can't rotate barrel etc) some running Russia is entirely dependent on North Korea and Iran at this point and is now deploying Iranian troops due to Russian manpower shortages. Russian artillery is effectively gone, it exisst with mostly useless ww2 era guns, north korean guns and some remaining scrapings but its hopelessly outranged and outmatched by the western guns Ukrainne has.

Russia has lost this war. I just don't think any of Putins inner circle had the guts to tell Putin just how fucked Russia is. They are out of time, money, artillery, tanks and even manpower. You can't build logistics on motorcycles and buggies. You can deliver stormtroopers to hohols trenches if they've been well-fired with artillery and drones beforehand, but most logistics will be done on infantry fighting vehicles. But with tanks, things are very bad right now. Their role is rapidly diminishing. They cost too much for something so vulnerable.

Since about the 1960s, they've been also become more and more vulnerable to all kinds of guided weapons.
