My sister and I got our IQs tested when we were younger, and while mine was 130 hers was 131. Despite that, our academic abilities couldn’t be any more different. While I am a moderately above average student academically, I have a lack of creative skills and general common sense that causes me to be get stuck on things others find trivial; think your stereotypical aspie. My sister meanwhile, is average to slightly below average academically, but is very street smart and intelligent in the more practical sense. We’d have radically different answers if we were both to reply to this thread, so while I could give some personal insight into my struggles I really doubt it would correlate to the experiences of others with similar measures IQs anyways.

All this goes to show really is that IQ really doesn’t mean or “determine” much in the first place. I’m sure me and my sister would get different IQ measurements if we were to retake the tests now, but all that really does is further drive home the fact that IQ tests are little more than a man-made test that attempts to arbitrarily quantify every kind of intelligence a person has into a single number, and it doesn’t even do a particularly good job at it.

Intelligence is definitely malleable to a degree. Even if the biological part of intelligence were to be set in stone, you could always upgrade your mental artillery. The main purpose of math is to make it easier to reason over difficult concepts. If you get good at math you also become good at solving problems that the math interacts with. This would "increase your intelligence" when you deal with these types of problems.

I used to but I suffered brain damage. All I can really say was before the minds eye was extremely vivid and things simply came to me. working hard is a meme. All intellectual task are easy and enjoyable for the smart. They don't work hard and when they do they love it. It can be thrilling and totally engrossing. Now however I'm not a 10th what I was and all tasks require deliberate thoughts. It's tedious and depressing. Don't know what my IQ is but my first day of kindergarten I was able to read newspapers and understand what was in them so was placed in the "gifted school". I left in Grade 7 because one of my good friends there washed out so I dropped out and went back to regular school.

This worked out fine until I got to university and in second year I had to actually study and couldn't just wing it as usual. It was not quite vomit smell but i was looking around I though there must be something spilled or something like that. i didn't understand and as I go from room to room it is a different bad smell and it wasn't until i pointed my face towards the sink, and could smell the sink from like across the room. It smelled awful but it was clearly a sink smell (there was no food in it or anything it just smelled bad). And I was able to smell it just by looking in the direction. I realized it was just a heightened sense of what is always there all the time.
And there is one part of the couch that smells good, it smells like a woman. I don't know who was sitting there, but I can smell it from a good distance away.
I think I might be turning into an animal. i don't know. I never had such a vivid experience of smells in my life. It is just today and notable.
