Everything is actually going so good. Lotta folks are friendly, made a few close friends, even started dating this guy who’s incredibly sweet. Fast forward to like a couple months ago. A black guy moves in, pretty nice looking guy but almost immediately there’s a vibe shift. Everyone is on edge when he’s around. When he enters a store the workers always follow him around, I start seeing guys urge their GF’s to start carrying more (yeah including mine) and being more protective holding us close when this guy is around. I feel kinda bad because he really didn’t do anything, but I don’t wanna go against the town.

So like… wtf is going on? I asked around and the dude didn’t do anything, it’s literally just because he’s black. How come I got acceptable so easily despite being trans when this stuff is way more recently debated than race stuff? I don’t get it
