High density
Multiculturalism
Freedom

The US has multiculturalism and freedom so they need to sacrifice high density, hence why their cities are all suburban sprawl. Singapore has high density and multiculturalism so they authority to maintain cohesion, hence why they have an extremely authoritarian state. Etc, etc. Each of the three creates instability, and one must always be sacrificed to stabilize the system.
