There are two different kinds of pharmacists. There's the retarded pill counters that work at convenient stores and Walmart who fill your prescriptions. They're paid pennies. Then there are clinical pharmacists that hold positions at hospitals and advise on treatment plans, monitor dosages based on outcomes, and keep the physicians from killing you.

PhDs are the only real doctorates. Professional doctorates have a lower threshold as they do not require original research to obtain.

That said, in the US pharmacists have a professional doctorates and therefore have technically earned the title of doctor. Everyone in healthcare has been coming up with bullshit professional doctorates over the past few decades because they feel it puts them on par with physicians. This makes the physicians really mad, but while they are correct that these other professional doctorates are not the same as theirs, they also massively overestimate the value of their academic title as well which is also a professional doctorates and therefore second rate to a PhD. The general public doesn't understand anything and often thinks of physicians as the "real doctors" because they do not understand what goes into a PhD and therefore have it all backwards.
