I am also a corporate guy with a masters in finance, I work at a very similar company and I am very happy with my job, but I find these type of contents or trends are cringe, I don't see any men posting these kind of stuff as flex. Only women make these shitty cringe contents.

I mean if you are rich, having super cars and big boats, it is totally understandable if you want to show off and seek attention. But working a 9-5 job is a flex among these women? Why?

Part of the corproate game (in the layers of management) is to overhire on purpose because like with any large institution (be it public or private) if they don't use up their allocated budget it gets cut. There are a lot of things that are tied to a manager's salary and performance like "headcount". So there's an incentive to hire more people than necessary. And even when there are cuts later, like say a 10% or more cut of staff across the board, because you overhired you're less affected by it.

So that's why you saw a lot of these videos, women were using the fact they were hired into these bullshit jobs to try to flex their status. Ultimately this is to try to find a higher status mate, that's the reason for the attention whoring.

A lot of them were affected by layoffs in the following years. Anyone who is reposting old videos on purpose is just trying to demoralise people. There aren't as many videos of girls bragging about how their big task for the day was brunch or emails publicly. Because that has and will get them laid off if it comes out.

Within STEM there is shitty degrees like biology so it depends. A fresh engineering graduate has a much higher chance of getting employed than any other kind of major. Like 75% of my graduating class got a job in their industry right after Uni.
The more general or common engineering disciplines like Mechanical or Civil probably struggle a bit more than a Chemical engineer.
