You have to determine if the risk/reward is right for you based on what they're offering weighed against the fact humanity hasn't had a major war in decades and we're living way outside the mean of human behaviour, and are bound to return to the average at some point.
Remember, if war breaks out, every serviceman is a rifleman at the end of the day. Western militaries are already loaded with people who join for your motives of payment and job security, rather than a warrior culture, and I imagine long-peaceful western democracies will attempt to remedy that fact at some point

Former Mech Infantry now retired. You can certainly do another remote job as long as the hours are flexible. My buddy does that as a side job. Just don't tell anyone. I HIGHLY recommend NOT joining the military right now. Its peak toxic incompetent DEI leadership currently. Everyone competent is either out or planning to get out.
If you think corporate culture is toxic good luck in the CAF. If you are even half competent you will end up doing 3 peoples jobs. No such thing as overtime pay in the military either. Literally the reward for good hard work is to do other peoples work.
