I like good amusement parks. Some people call them theme parks but a lot of people only really consider Disney and Universal parks to be theme parks. I don’t care for Disney and Universal slop. They’re expensive and although I can afford it, they are miserable and crowded. The Disney parks are mostly full of gay and boring attractions. There are a couple things I like but not worth going for. Universal is mostly an inferior version of Disney with some higher budget areas like the Harry Potter stuff. I went to islands of adventure last year and it was okay but it was miserable and crowded and we only did like 7 things. I can go to an amusement park and do 7 things before it’s even lunch time. If people find those 7 things “worth it” then good for them but I can pay $40 and go to Great America and ride coasters all day. Or for $100 I can get a seasonal pass. That’s still cheaper than a day at Universal

It’s not really a children’s theme park. Children can’t ride most of the rides there because of the height requirements. Most of the rides are also too extreme for most kids under the age of 10. It’s mostly for teenagers and adults but if the manchild variety

1. Walkable cities (real cities, not small towns with a downtown strip) are awesome. It's how adults are meant to live. We just trash it in the US because black people ruin most of our cities.

2. Arrested development aside, if you actually live in a cool walkable city, you would have zero desire to go to a theme park like Disney. Most of what Disney, especially Epcot, has to offer is basically overpriced, safe versions of walkable cities. Country bumpkins and suburban-Americans aren't used to being able to walk outside and there's cool shit, nice parks, fountains, restaurants and bars everywhere. So when they go to Disney, they're going for the theme park stuff, but what they're actually enjoying is the experience of a walkable city without black people.

That's exactly what it is. Most Americans live in suburban or rural areas that might have a downtown strip you can drive to, but generally you're not able to just walk places. Disney and most theme parks that aren't centered around the rides are basically country bumpkins experiencing a walkable city without black people.

We sort of do have these, but it's always shifting around due to the gentrification cycle:

word gets out

too many wealthy people move in and it becomes sterile and expensive

people stop wanting to be there

buildings and amenities degrade over time without new money coming it

becomes shitty again

There's also the factor of left wing politics destroying places. Left wing politics in the 90's and 2000's were fine.
But in the 2010's, since they started fixating on taking in refugeees and migrants, "criminal justice reform", and drug use policies like free narcan everywhere and safe injection sites, left wing politics have become a death sentence for an area.

Additionally, when talking major cities in the US, a lot are nicely segregated. Crime can and does happen, but as long as you're in a nice trendy neighborhood, it will be mostly white. Then there are sections of the city that you just don't go in.

I am not looking forward to the massive crowd when I go there next month.

Been to Universal (and Disney, and SeaWorld/Busch Gardens, and Disney is hot garbage) every other year until 15 years ago, until I got season passes for Universal last year, and went 3 times (at least the flights are cheap).

Crowds were not bad at all, but I also remember going to Islands of Adventure one month after Harry Potter opened up, and that part of the park was absolutely packed with people to the point where all other rides had a 5 minute wait (so Hulk had no wait time when it usually has 45 minutes or so).

Also, due to my sister coming with us, and her paying for us, went to Hollywood Studios and Epcot for one day each last May, and Magic Kingdom for one day in August, and it was overpriced as all hell (although Tron was cool at Magic Kingdom and Disney's best ride, but a ride like that doesn't even belong there).

I booked hotel rooms last August for late June, since I knew that Universal always opens up new parks around May/June, but didn't know the date since nothing was announced then. And I also lucked out by picking late June since the Switch 2 releases on the 5th (and yes, I knew all about Super Nintendo World coming to somewhere at Universal Orlando due to me following gaming news as well, but didn't know which park it would be at, but figured that it would be at Epic Universe until they announced it formally).

It's theme park with an emphasis on ride based attractions. This specific park has just recently opened and has three different sections that are themed around different franchises. This park is themed around "portals" that take you to different cinematic universes, and the area being shown is likely supposed to be some sort of generic city environment that links these "portals" together. Universal Parks also have themed on site hotels, and this particular park also has a hotel that was built specifically for the park, so it's possible this city theme ties into the hotel's aesthetic.

It's based off of Paris as seen in the Magical Creatures films (but nobody cares about that film series). All they really want to go to is the Harry Potter ride there.
