First, let’s be honest. Few people actually give a shit about “homelessness” or “homeless people.” What they care about is not seeing black men in blankets sleeping in their own shit on the sidewalk and having blue tarp tents on the fucking streets making everything look filthy and scary.

The solution that literally EVERYONE would accept is just making homeless people go be homeless somewhere else where no one can see it.

But the hard reality is that there’s no “nice, kind-looking” way to accomplish that from an optics and feelings perceptive. And most people (voters, city councils, etc) still don’t have the nerve to do what it takes.

The problem of homeless visibility could literally be solved in a week if cities would “round up” their homeless populations and put them in a designated “camp” in an isolated part of town and expend resources to prevent them from leaving that area. That’s literally all it would take.

But that feels “mean.”

The homelessness can never end, because then the money would dry up and they'd have to get a real job. They make it attractive to be homeless in CA -- you can get on a list for a subsidized place and you don't even necessarily have to get off drugs. This, in part, causes homeless people from all over the US to go to CA (it has warmer weather anyway). The nonprofits coach these people to say they're California natives, so it doesn't become apparent to taxpayers that this activity is bringing in homeless people from around the country. It's a giant grift.

I was homeless. The VA put me in an apartment. I have over 20 years of work experience in engineering fields.

I suffer from "schizophrenia" / "psychotic episodes" because of my stance on society, semitism, and capitalism. I have never smoke fentanyl or really drugs outside of some high school era stuff (besides pot).

The point is not all homeless people are degenerates. I spend all day coding (and did when I was homeless too, I sold my phone to buy a solar panel for my laptop).
