yes maoris and abos are not equivalent for comparison. maoris are a polynesina people, and have probably 20-30 iq points higher average than abos. They were also a farming people. Abos and maoris are very different.
That's why maoris couldn't really be exterminated like the abos could, or the khoesan in southern africa, or the redskins in my own continent (though our redskins are probably mostly smarter than the other settler colony indigenous groups except the maori). Because there is more to be gained from cooperation. Maori have had a huge standard of living increase from Europeans being here. And most people would prefer not to fight each other. However I would say it's getting worse. Our major parties if they could would go full UK, but our system MMP allows minor parties to have a say and that curtails a lot of the bullshit that would otherwise happen.
Our previous government was made up of just one of these major parties (Labour) and went completely of the rails.
