I switched to the m1 MacBook Pro after my razer blade battery exploded through the case. I went through 2 MacBook pros (1st one bricked after almost 3 years of hard usage, the second one I broke because I dropped it, and I've been using the m2 MacBook Air for the past 2 years which is better than the pro models in my opinion)

The only time I have hit performance bottlenecks with the base model air is when compiling Rust programs, but that is literally it.

This computer is way more powerful than the overclocked gaming PC's that I used to build in the mid 2010's

are you paying for applecare? i used to work at an AASP (apple authorized service provider), those repair bills were a real pain in the ass for some people. applecare is honestly worth it even if you aren't someone who routinely bricks devices.

I'd actually put forth the claim that if you aren't gaming, animating, or mining, the little mini PCs out now are about $400-500 are perfect for the average normie user. Enough capability to drive a 4K TV for all your entertainment needs (old shit won't cut it here), plenty of ports, ram, an extra drive slot for more SSD space, and of course it works with all the office products just fine. Could even use some engineering software no problem. And these little bastards handle old games just fine, to be honest. $200 isn't really enough, it won't have the CPU/power for 4K - you really do need a few more bucks for faster shit.

Anything less is gonna be a pain for a normie in some shape or form, be it incapable with current monitors and TVs, or just being a slow piece of shit. They even shove these into monitors too!

I do MDM for a large org that has mostly Macs in the fleet, we do have some Windows machines though. Very glad I'm no responsible for dealing with them considering this video. My users are generally set up and ready to work within 20 minutes, including full macOS upgrade, Apple ID login and initial MDM sync with app and script deployment + hardening.
